Steffi Fischer received her first voice lessons with Mariette Witteveen and Heide Blanke-Roeser. After that she studied voice at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe with Prof. Klaus Dieter Kern and Gabriella Lichter-Maxende at Musikhochschule Detmold as well as score studies with Prof. Ekkehard Schoeps, Folkwanghochschule, Essen. She gives regular lieder recitals and concerts in churches throughout Germany and abroad. Her repertoire covers a full range of classic-romantic songs through to 20th century works and lyrical opera recitals. Her focal points are recitals from Haydn and Mozart, in the field of oratories the baroque period, above all J.S.Bach. An important impulse for her artistic development she received as a member of the Gesangsensemble Sigmund Bothmann. Moreover she is a founding member of the Ensemble für Neue Musik Schloss Hamborn. Since 2014 she has worked intensively at different forms of contemporary music (improvisation, theatre- and film music, performance) and has explored specific expressive repertoire (e.g. live electronic music). In 2008 she sang the role of Titania in the media opera forest2, composed by T.Brandes, C.Ziegler and M.Hewel in the Muffat Hall, Munich.
Together with the accordion player Joanne Bialek Steffi Fischer discovered her affinity to the field of French chanson and founded together with her the duo Les Garçonnes. Here she mainly offers a program connected to the Piaf era.
In the pedagogical field Steffi Fischer has taken on phonation and choir rehearsals with children and teenagers at numerous music and theatre projects. Among others she has worked at productions like the Beggar´s Opera, Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny, Anatevka, Hair, Cabaret, The Chorus, The Little Magic Flute, Brundibar and The Tale of Manas in Kyrgyzstan.
